Inspired - Eastern India, Pala–Sena idiom, Circa 9th–11th century. A highly articulated sculptural fragment rendered in dense narrative relief, its circumferential shrine architecture suggesting a cosmological conception of the divine as infinite and omnipresent.

Carved in black stone, this sculptural fragment reflects the dense narrative and architectural vocabulary of the Eastern Indian Pala–Sena tradition (circa 9th–11th century). The cylindrical composition is articulated through a rhythmic sequence of miniature shrine niches enclosing seated divinities, interwoven with finely carved vegetal and ornamental motifs.

Its circumferential form suggests an architectural origin, evoking temple superstructure elements and a broader cosmological conception of the divine as omnipresent and infinite. The fine-grained stone, with its nuanced patina and subtle surface wear, enhances both the precision of carving and the depth of the relief.
